Thrilled to have been longlisted for the Saltires Research Book of the Year award for An Odious Campaign, published by Tippermuir Books. As a former librarian, an award for research is doubly meaningful.

And the First Minister, cough, is a graduate of that institution. Sitting on his hands, as usual. No doubt some pious and sanctimonious word salad will emerge in due course. 20 years of decline but, you know, saltires and that.

I knew who raised them. But I didn't care, because I would love for people to raise more saltires. Everywhere.

I think we Indy minded folk should fly the RNLA flag next to our saltires… that would really piss the Yoons off and equalise their attempts to hijack oor flag! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

No saltires, then? From what I’ve seen, those who embrace the blue and white are generally far more welcoming of the newly arrived and their descendants who choose Scotland as home.

Time to lower our saltires to half mast
our elected Scottish Government have continually failed on our independence.......

Scottish councils removed over 770 flags from public property last year – up from just 13 the year before.

Experts warn the surge reflects rising social tensions and immigration flashpoints across the country.

Dr @niallhsmith.bsky.social is interviewed for this @1919magazine.bsky.social article about Scottish local authorities taking down hundreds of flags.

“It’s quite transparent what’s going on, and it’s obvious what people who put up these flags are trying to do”

John Swinney is turning the SNP into a party that stands for nothing.

What's the point in an independence when the vision on offer is "just like the present, just with more saltires"?

If he's not willing to stand up for what's right he should stand aside for those who will.
Today the @snp.org made Scotland the only UK nation without a bill to ban conversion practices.

This is not good enough.

If they won't stand up for our rights, we'll do it without them.

NEW: At least 774 flags – predominantly Saltires and Union Flags – were taken down by local authorities during 2025/26

The previous year, councils recorded only 13 removals 👇

Here are the pictures for August 2025.

It was known as "ARABICA DABRA" back then and was painted primarily black.

Another Repainted #EdinburghPoliceBox this time at St Patrick Square.

This might not be a recent repaint, it's been almost exactly a year since I lasted visited, I am pleased it retains the painted castle 🏰.

Now branded "Sonas Expression Bar".

The usual suspects
There will be no X posts by Elon Musk, Nigel Farage or Ewok Powell, and no marches by the the 'Stink Ladies' or other white racists carrying Saltires or Union flags

I definitely like 3 the best. If the worry is that its too on the nose, id argue that a) these people aren't subtle and b) florida has a long history with saltires. I also (sloppily) did up one that feels more flowy (to me) and feels a little remincent of Florida's own confederate flag (to me)

Well, I'll take @philatelovely.bsky.social's example and show some more saltires! Here are one stamp from the last QEII regional issue for Scotland (2022), and one stamp from the first KCIII regional issue for Scotland (2025)!
