You Can't Get That Stuff No More is inexplicably not a well-known song. Here's a version of it...

Born 98 years ago today: Serge Gainsbourg (d. 1991). From his reggae LP, a cover of the old Sam Theard song "I'll be glad when you're dead (you rascal you)."

"I'll be glad when you're dead, you rascal you. I'm going to kill you just for fun, the bugs can have you when I'm done"

Sam Theard went fucking *hard* back in 1929.

"You Rascal You" is an American song written by Sam Theard in 1929, and legally titled "I'll Be Glad When You're Dead".

One minor correction:
The "Let the Good Times Roll" song the Dead (later) played was "Good Times" written by Sam Cooke, not the Louis Jordan song (officially credited to Sam Theard and Fleecie Moore).
And I just noticed this is wrong in @jerrybase.bsky.social as well.

Grifters gotta grift.

In the meantime, I'll be thinking of a classic 1929 tune by Sam Theard made famous by Louis Armstrong and Cab Calloway, among others. My personal fave being a duet version Armstrong did with Louis Jordan.

It doesn't appear that line was in there. You were right Sam. Got my facts mixed up. But it does exist. And here is theard focused on lost Cass media including that issue: bsky.app/profile/dail...
With every comic book character, there are stories that aren’t approved or slipped through the cracks of being published.

Here are the ones that involve Cassandra Cain.

Let the Good Times Roll is written by Louisiana singer Sam Theard and recorded by Louis Jordan and his Tympany Five. Zydeco covers go from English to French, “laissez les bons temps rouler,” which becomes the unofficial catch phrase of the city of New Orleans.

Let the Good Times Roll was written by Fleecie Moore and Spo-de-ode. Fleecie was Louis Jordan's wife and Spo-de-ode (sic) was Sam Theard who first recorded in the 20s as Lovin' Sam from 'Bam and wound up on Sanford and Son towards the end of his lengthy career. #ShellacSky
