Astonishingly, the temple recorded 234 attempts!

Although the stage is 13m high, the survival rate amongst jumpers was a good 85% (landings cushioned by bushes and the gradient of the hillside).
Jumping is now prohibited, so please don't try😉

Two years ago, a man was hurt when a cherry blossom tree fell across Sannenzaka road in Kyoto, the route to Kiyomizudera. It was 100 years old. On such a busy route, the tree was well-cared for, and there were no signs of rot. www.yomiuri.co.jp/national/202...
