“Eat shit, Sarris”
This worship of the director is cyclical—Welles or Fellini is probably adored no more than von Stroheim or von Sternberg or De Mille was in his heyday—but such worship generally doesn’t help in sorting out what went into the making of good pictures and bad pictures. (1971)

The ratings would be dire but I would watch a Ryan Murphy “Feud: Kael/Sarris.” (The “Mank” ship has already sailed, alas.)

It's so funny that 'Raising Kane' only exists because of her grudge against Sarris and Houseman's grudge against Welles

I like Kael, but I wish people wouldn't cite her as an opponent of autuerism, since she spoke in almost nothing but the language of it (including vociferously defending her favorite directors). She just wanted to pretend she was against it because she hated Andrew Sarris that much

Slightly tickled that the dad of Justin Long's character in the movie (the late Robin Sachs, son of Andrew) is also the film's chief villain, Sarris.

This is great stuff from Eno Sarris about the Moneyball-like edges the Brewers and Rays have excelled at and why both teams are on the cusp of a potential World Series matchup

Or, more likely, Stuff+ is a malleable metric that has too many moving parts but god knows we should try to bulldoze an analysis using it for a sub population of players (ie those in the playoffs currently) rather than back off of it any time soon.

I eat Sarris chocolate candy bars but I think that's a local brand. They're soooo good and they cost too much to give out on Halloween 😭
