the Saudis have gone too far

The Saudis gave jarred cushner alone over 2 BILLION.

You think it was the Saudis who goaded us into war with Iran?
November 2, 2026 at 7:31 PM
The Saudis — and Qataris — have that kind of grip on Trump and Kushner. Is that what Douthat means?

🙄
November 2, 2026 at 9:53 PM
Bribe force one, and Jared‘s multi billions from the Saudis.
November 3, 2026 at 8:45 PM
Jared Kushner’s plan was to get the Saudis to put aside the Palestinian cause and join Israel in opposing Iran. As Sunni Muslims, the Saudis see Shiite Iran as a threat. And then Bibi got that chump Trump to attack Iran.
November 2, 2026 at 8:28 PM
In his defense, the Saudis do have the Trump family by the balls. They just dont have much influence over Senate races.
November 2, 2026 at 7:20 PM
The Saudis are for Republicans anyway.
November 2, 2026 at 8:52 PM
To be honest, buying time for the Saudis to do anything effective at all is like saying your plan in the siege is to just hold out until the Second Coming.

But who knows.

IRAN SINKS TANKER AS HOUTHIS ATTACK SAUDIS

American air force units have arrived in Israel as it builds up units for another attack on Iran.
Meanwhile Saudi forces admit more attempted attacks by the Houthis. Most of the targets are oil facilities including in Riyadh.

The Saudis gave Jared Kushner $2 BILLION dollars!
November 2, 2026 at 4:30 PM
The Saudis' grip on this current DC is WAY stronger than the Israelis'.
November 2, 2026 at 7:20 PM
the only thing I wish had been added here is that Israel and Saudi Arabia have exploited vulnerabilities in the American system in differently corrosive ways. AIPAC created a shell to pour millions into races to defeat progressives not even mentioning Israel in ads. The Saudis gave Jared Kushner $2B
Bari Weiss's resident hack Ross Douthat made a complete fool of himself on 60 Minutes, trying to claim the Saudi lobby has the same grip on Washington as AIPAC. Abdul El-Sayed immediately crushed him: 'AIPAC spent $33 million against me alone! Name another lobby doing that.' It has to make sense!🗳️🌊
November 3, 2026 at 8:45 PM
Surely the Saudis spend more than that on Jared alone.
November 2, 2026 at 10:45 PM
Even if we were to take this claim at face value, does Ross think the Saudis would be supporting the *democrats*?
November 2, 2026 at 9:17 PM
See also continuing to trade with Israel, armed support of the Saudis, continued proscription of Palestine Action, nothing on climate change, water companies allowed to limp on etc etc.
November 3, 2026 at 9:26 AM
I guess that him getting 2 billion dollars from the Saudis for Trump to surrender to THE TALIBAN (the saudis are the biggest supporters of those who attacked America on 9-11) wasnt corruption. 1/
November 3, 2026 at 8:54 PM
This issue predates the spat with the Saudis.
November 3, 2026 at 8:14 AM
The Saudis gave Jared Kushner alone $2B, but they're not trying to decide our local and national elections like AIPAC does.
November 2, 2026 at 9:52 PM
The influence that the Saudis have in Washington is with the WH. trump and his whole family are mixed up with billions of dollars with the Saudis.
Douthat conveniently does not mention that part.
November 2, 2026 at 10:28 PM
The Saudis pay Kushner directly.

Wonder how the Saudis and others in the Gulf feel about those big commitments to Trump world now?

Once upon a time they were savvier investors.
America’s Gulf allies are steeling themselves for a heavy U.S. bombardment of Iran that they expect to trigger a vicious cycle of retaliation against their own economic and civilian infrastructure as early as this week. www.wsj.com/world/middle...
America’s Gulf Allies Prepare for New Round of Strikes on Iran—and the Blowback
The risks are growing as diplomatic efforts remain stalled and Iran threatens unrestrained retaliation.

Shouldn't Douthat be asking his "hard hitting" questions about the Saudis---to Jared Kushner?

And sell out America.

El-Sayed was born in Michigan. His parents weren't Saudis, they were Egyptians. Even if they were Saudis, you're painting 2 billion Muslims with a broad brush. That's a lot of hate to carry around for a quarter of a century. It's not good for your gut or your heart.
