Pub side to be run as a pub. Murals, crest, 1 falcon survive. One day we hope for full restoration of Duke's pub heritage

The battle for the Iron Duke pub is over. #SaveDuke campaign preserved the art deco building, publicans applied to run it but Great Yarmouth Council had other plans. It is to become Zaks Burgers. This local authority has been particularly egregious. This was my planning appeal:

Huge praise to Caroline & #SaveDuke campaign which rescued the Art Deco pub from certain demolition. Such a shame the charity money is backing the Council scheme to reopen the pub as Zacs Burgers. Echoing your hopes for a better future for the pub.

The lottery heritage fund have given the council run GYPT the remaining funding for the Iron Duke for the Zaks scheme. It’s a shambles but we have saved this wonderful pub from demolition. Hopefully one day it will reopen as a pub. Thank you everyone who have supported our 7 year long campaign .
