Meet Rhyssonotus nebulosus, an australian stag beetle (Lucanidae). "nebulosus" for its cloud markings on the elytrae.
The horns are used by males to fight for dominance over a piece of wood.
Super colourful for a Lucanidae!

Hiiii #ScarabOfTheDay!
Today I wanted to show you Hexodon unicolor.
Family: Scarabaeidae
Subfam: Dynastinae
They are the only genus of the tribe Hexodontini, from Madagascar, and are super adapted to digging: flat with strong legs. Maybe you can fool your baker and buy a baguette with one.

You know what, whatever, #ScarabOfTheDay 🪲
For the first Scarab of the Day, let me present you Pelidnota sordida !
Family: Scarabaeidae
Subfam: Rutelinae
Found in Brazil during a field mission, with a light trap. The thing that gives "Rutelinae" is that green sheen.
Males have enlarged front tarsi.

#ScarabOfTheDay 🪲🦗
This scarab is hella weird. Like it comes from Peru and has super short stonky wings. No idea what's going on with him. Almost like it folds its wings on its back. Nice jumping legs btw.
