#Scart
Rescued this Luxor 6355 from an estate sale, first CRT resurrection. Replaced eight caps and two resistors, both open due to shorted caps. Native RGB SCART input, rare in early 80's.

important re: DVD player!

many new TVs have fully dropped the old analogue inputs, which could make your DVD player incompatible if it communicates over analogue connections like SCART or composite. you’d have to either get a newer DVD player that uses HDMI, or a Blu-Ray player.

Oh yeah, the Dreamcast having VGA out was a huge deal. And even back in the day there were guys running their shit off SCART through linedoublers into PC monitors or whatever the hell they could do to get the sharpest pixels.

The roadblock was that I couldn't find my RGB-SCART cable and after a good rummage that also led to me discovering other retro related stuff, I eventually found it, so I'm ready to go.

Gosh, I need to organise everything.

I'll tag you in later when I begin playing. 😁🎮

It's a lovely piece of kit but sadly I am having trouble where the image constantly changes brightness/saturation in 60hz modes... Except in Snatcher for some reason?? Ordered a new scart cable, I really hope it fixes the issue 😅

Oh wait scart also starts with an s

Scart looks just as good if you ask me
September 28, 2026 at 12:22 AM
Oh baby, I love SCART

This puppy has a GeForce 6600, SCART out, and composite/S-Video in and I think we are going to have a lot of fun together.

(which, just to add a little more detail, is the TV we used from our final house in Dublin to our present house here in Belgium. There was nothing else wrong with it... except being a SCART in an HDMI world.)
September 27, 2026 at 5:34 AM
SCART... now there's a name I haven't heard in a while...

(The want of a SCART connection after an upgrade of some device or other finally got us to abandon our faithful tank-of-a-tube TV...)

whenever i post about kh i really do intractably feel like the "what motivates scart? thats right, the nut" post

These are all random old SCART shit. There is a different box of European adapters :)

I have destroyed 6 HDDs today though which felt productive. 5 of them wouldn’t even mount so I wanted to be sure.

60$ aliexpress scart switch has been working pretty good for me for years

And of course a scart cable if the original monitor is gone. So there's another little expense, on top of a replacement belt, and then you'll want the SD card option so there's more money...it can quickly become a money pit but the CPC is probably the cheapest of all.

I've never seen a PC case with a SCART port before lol
September 26, 2026 at 6:45 PM
it came with a TV card and software to record live TV, so I think that explains the SCART - it was supposed to be a hybrid PC and DVR
September 26, 2026 at 6:25 PM
holy shit I've never seen a SCART port on a PC, let alone built in like this
September 26, 2026 at 5:51 PM
Last time I saw a SCART lead, it was tying a farm gate shut.
September 26, 2026 at 5:48 PM
And the last of the PCs, a regular degular Medion Pentium 4 which might make for a more compatible XP machine than I have now.

Also, built in S-Video, Component, and SCART out???

And today's lesson is: always use good quality SCART cables.

I just wasted two hours messing around with settings on the OSSC, trying to figure out why I couldn't get a stable picture from my Spectrum... 😩

Mulla on kanssa pari kertaa ollut sama. Ei tosin vielä siitä yhdestä säästämästäni Scart-johdosta. :)
