"at least one school apparently notified participants that they would receive detention for leaving class during the walkout"

Really fantastic reporting centering MANY @NYCSchools HS student voices from @Gothamist @WNYC @ByJessicaGould #schoolsarenotsafe...

This is not an education. This is real learning loss. What's not lost on us in @NYCSchools is our gov't would rather warehouse however many kids show up than teach all of em. This is not equitable or sustainable. Hundreds of thousands get no instruction at all. #schoolsarenotsafe

3 @NYCSchools educators texted just this morning that they tested positive for COVID. I know so many who got COVID these past few days & only went to work/back: #schoolsarenotsafe w/ spread. News flash: many classes are either being taught by subs or combined cuz staff are sick.

To my knowledge @MOREcaucusUFT was not organizing students to #nycstudentwalkout2022 (& a public quote of mine was used w/o my knowledge). This was 100% a student action AND I support students who know just as well as educators that #schoolsarenotsafe; we need a remote option.

NYC #SchoolsAreNotSafe: call 311 or text 917-335-3179 to call for PCR COVID testing for all students and staff, mandatory and free N95, KN95 or KN94s to students and staff, test pre-K & K students in school, require testing in @NYCSchools for all students, & upgrade ventilation.

The kids don't need adults to organize them: they see for themselves what's happening, that #schoolsarenotsafe. Just MONDAY 1/10 "11,825 cases among students, or about 1.2% of the 930,000-person student body. There were 2,298 cases among staff reported"...

Instead of @UFT @UFTUnity town hall call which is just going to be President Mulgrew telling me my teachers union is doing everything possible to keep us safe, I'm going to therapy where I won't be gaslit when I say #schoolsarenotsafe. Will read notes that #edutwitter takes, thx!

As someone who took FMLA and quit teaching….. I’m still sad. I was good at it. But I don’t miss it. And that makes me more sad. #schoolsarenotsafe #mutualaid #socialist #eattherich #lugie

Want to hear the REAL FUCKING PROBLEM?! This Board WASN’T EVEN CREATED until 2024! #WTF #ProtectOurStudents
PS: Never have I EVER been so glad to have forethought. #Retired #SchoolsAreNotSafe

Not safe to remove masks or mingle indoors for anyone except teachers and teens... apparently... #SchoolsAreNotSafe #LockHimUp https://www.theguardian.com/education/2021/may/27/ministers-urged-to-release-data-on-covid-variants-in-english-schools

If schools are safe, why have teacher infection rates more than doubled since schools re-opened? #SchoolsAreNotSafe
