Dunno if it's been confirmed or documented anywhere, but I only realised a few years ago that the big final boss robot from Sonic 2 was modeled after the Scopedog from Votoms.

lmao yeah people just got fuckin aced. And people are just like "whoopeee how thrilling!!!" I do love that the basic Scopedog has Rick Dom movement though, though it does kinda kill it. The reason Rick Dom movement is so cool is that nobody does that before you see the Rick Dom.

Fun demo. Volnutt is worryingly quiet during the whole thing. I liked the Jagd Krabbe's SHMUP pattern attacks. I would have spent hours using the jet boots in the pig collecting level as a kid

It's one of the things I love and hate about Votoms- They bring in some really cool designs, only for Chirico to completely trash with his Scopedog. It would be like watching Gundam but Amuro destroys everything the Zeons throw at him with a stock GM, all the way through Chars Counterattack.
