Extremely disappointed a few days ago when after a very fruitful PhD-level seminar we were shown the ScopusAI tools and encouraged to play around with them. Just to make a point, I used it and found it to be a pile of utter shite. I'm concerned about any humanities academic who uses AI at this level

Think pretty much everyone (at least the startups and ScopusAi etc) does "hybrid search" of keyword + embeddings then some reranking. But end of day, the proof is in the pudding. When you do IR tests does it find the relevant papers

Yep, that’s definitely one of them my students use a lot. We also purchase ScopusAI and Web of Science Research Assistant at my university. When students say “Oh I used ChatGPT for blah blah research” I redirect to things with more controlled evidence-based content that’s up to date.
