The reason I started using ScreenStars is because my astrophotography mentor thought it might solve the problem. Maybe I'm the problem. Maybe I just can't bear to lose the detail of a starless image. But this was more dramatic than most.

The star are fine on their own. I separate them from the nebulosity to process. When I recombine, I lose some overall quality. Usually a livable amount. Sometimes a ridiculous amount. Not sure why. I'm screening stars on removal and using the ScreenStars script to recombine.
