Lady screwworms only mate once. They're VERY focused on their career (laying thousands of eggs) & don't have time for romance.

But once the screwworms broke that perimeter, the program became a victim of its own success. Screwworms were pushing into regions that hadn’t seen a screwworm in over thirty years. People literally did not know what they were looking at or who to report it to.
