Based on John Gay Beggars Opera, written with the Scribblerians at Cannons.
I can't see a post about Lotte Lenya without thinking of her version of Mack the Knife, (Mackie Messer) the music written by her husband Kurt Wiell. The literal translation of the German version is very different to the Mack the Knife that became popularised later. Fabulous version.
Mack the Knife Sung by Lotte Lenya
The song "Mack the Knife" was witten by Kurt Weill for his wife Lotte Lenya. Here Ms Lenya sings "Mack the Knife" in its original German.
