Every hero comes from somewhere and having a friend character who can pull from their past is a useful tool for writers. They can humanize the heroes in ways other super-powered beings can’t. They give life to their pasts and inform their present lives. I don’t know much bout these two but I’m excited to read them when I get there. A Kraven the Hunter type, who hunts superheroes for sport using high-tech weaponry. He fought Aquaman and Animal Man once and would later attack Sub-Diego for Ocean Master, then join Lex Luthor’s Society. Not all that much to him from what I know, but he’ a good low to mid tier enemy. Like other tech villains his powers could carry depending on his arsenal, and he has a decent gimmick with his tracking and hunter gimmick. I could see him as a regular buyer for the Scavenger’s findings or even King Fish’s poisons. I’d lay heavily into the game hunter persona and have him hunt down the many monsters of the deep for trophies. Sea Daddy is a joke villain who wanted to take over Atlantis and shot at Aquadog. Aquaman kicks his butt. He’s a good joke villain, playing off the sometimes beefcake-ish way Aquaman can be portrayed. As far as I know, he’s only appeared once but I wouldn’t mind seeing him again. He could be one of those guys who fills a team roster or he could hang out at one of those bars for loser villains. I’ve been running a theoretical throughline connecting the Abyssal Dark to many of the disparate ideas in Aquaman’s mythology. Atlantean deities are extra-dimensional and divine beings worshiped throughout their history, at least partially made up of Lords of Order and Chaos. The original “7 Gods” came into being when the Darkworld Entity dreamed the Darkworld into reality. As it turns out, this Entity is the progenitor of an old form of Atlantean magic, and the Darkworld is the power source for ancient Atlantean magic. Majistra is an evil Atlantean deity of darkness, wife of the god of light Calculha. Majistra and Calculha create the Zodiac Crystals by tapping the primordial power of the Earth, but soon Majistra tries to take them to bring an age of supreme darkness. Their twin sons Ahri'ahn (Arion) and Garn Daanuth had each been brought up by one of their parents during the feud and Arion would trap her essence in the Darkworld. My new head-canon is that the Abyssal Dark is Majistra’s reminisce essence and that the various connected threads are ways/results of her trying to regain physical form in the real world. Arion and the power of the Zodiac Crystals keeps her trapped, but she is able to seep into reality through the ancient dark magic of Atlantis which she empowered when she died. The Zodiac Crystals may have been lost to history due to a loss of interest, but what if Arion has been hiding them one in each of the Lost Cities to keep Majistra from returning in full? This would also be why he trains Tempest as the greatest mage under the sea, why he guides Aquaman’s life from behind the scenes, and everything else he does.
