What if the fixed point you crossed an ocean to reach had already cut its moorings and sailed? Seven years of searching, missed by days. Now the only road to her is the track of a whole migrating nation.

moodboard showing a collection of images. atop the images is stickers of tape and the words “The Blood Will We Up On The Shore” on them in calligraphic font.

from left to right: Taehyung dressed as a prince leaning plan table with 3 playing cards in his hand. a collection of jewels and treasure. a photo of jin dressed up as a pirate looking off into the distance. a pirate being lured over the edge of their boat by a figure in the water. a page of a book that reads “1 the sea speaks more honestly to those willing to drown”. two men sat a wooden table in what looks like a tavern gambling and swimming. a pirate ship on open water. an old fashioned map. rough waves crashing. hands tied up in rope on a beach

A Home Made From
Stardust
Throughout Jungkook's life he has been many different things; a cloud of dust and gas rapidly growing in size, a ball of fire burning steadily, a supernova exploding as he fell down, down, down, where he landed on earth as a man.
But the most surprising, most unpredictable thing that Jungkook has been is in love.

I'm All Yours (I've Got No
Control)
krescentkoo
Summary:
Life is already hard for notorious gang leader Yoongi. The last thing he needs is the universe forcing him to repeatedly cross paths with a man who shines brighter than the sun.
Yoongi's been walking this path for long enough now to know the universe doesn't give him nice things and lets him keep them. And he's not sure how long he can fight a warmth as strong as Hoseok's before he lets it pull him into his orbit.

"Now what is an A-class citizen like nurse Jung Hoseok doing spending time with notorious crime lord Min Yoongi?" The smile Yoongi wore as he spoke was dripping in an irony so thick he's surprised his words didn't trip over it on the way out.

"You looked lonely."

It stopped Yoongi in his tracks, his drink lifted mid-way between the table and his mouth. When he turned to look at Hoseok, it was with furrowed brows and a sharp tongue. But the words vanished, and his face relaxed when he was greeted by a genuine softness that made Yoongi uncon fortable to be the recipient of.

Toran didn't answer. He was already moving away, across the dock. His stride, no longer a stricken heavy land-plod, but a fluid, swaying motion that anticipated a swell that wasn't there.

He reached the jetty and jumped onto the Rusted Nightfish. Now, his feet didn't stumble. He landed with the grace of a predator. The boat felt like an extension of his own limbs.
He didn't need the whiskey to steady his hands anymore.. He slammed the engine into gear, and as the harbor lights receded, he felt the claustrophobia of the land lift.

He wasn't going out to fish. He was going out to wait for the red-glowing scales to rise through the foam.
At exactly five miles out, the Rusted Nightfish idled, drifting in a sea of liquid glass. The engine silenced, yet the boat felt alive, thrumming with a frequency, an anticipation, that made the salt crystals on the deck dance.

Then the water broke, without a sound. Without so much as a ripple, the Dark Neptune rose, his bright obsidian eyes no longer wide with the stark panic of the net, but alive with a heavy, ancient and terrifying curiosity. The crimson scales - the ones mended by Toran’s stolen warmth - glowed like dying embers racing against his indigo skin.

As the creature leaned against the hull, a soft trill bypassed Toran's ears. It wasn't just a sound anymore; it was a flood of imagery: the crushing weight of the trenches, the reverent singing of the whales, and a sudden, sharp flash of the "Nightfish" as a tiny, flickering spark in a vast, cold desert.

The merman was grateful. Toran could tell that much. Not just for the healing, but for the will it took for a creature of the shore to reach back into the dark.

Entranced, Toran reached out. His calloused fingers brushed the new red scales. They weren't cold like fish skin; they pulsed with a low, feverish heat - his own heat, returned to him in a different form

A Star-Spun Melody
As the days pass, the barrage of questions Yoongi has grows. They flood his brain most nights after Jungkook easily falls asleep. Mostly, he wonders about where Jungkook came from. Yoongi thinks he might be an alien, it would explain how he fell from the sky. But sometimes, when Jungkook's asleep, all tangled up in Yoongi, he glows slightly. It's subtle, not bright enough to light the room, but enough that Yoongi can make out the features on Jungkook's face clearer than he should be able to, bright enough that the skin of Jungkook's hand glimmers against the black bed sheet.
Perhaps, alien isn't quite right.

We’ve Been Dying Since The Day We Were Born

◆ Part 4.2
◆ Complete (195k total)
◆ #Taekook #btsfic #seastory
◆ Zombie apocalypse, terminal
illnesses, slow burn, angst with a happy ending

"We've spent our whole lives almost dying. You think we'd be used to it by now, wouldn't you?" Jimin holds his gaze for a moment before he turns back to the lake with a drawn out sigh. "Do you ever think it was a waste of time?"
"What was?"
"Surviving."
There's a bird somewhere in the trees singing, and the water rushes through the streams a few metres away. But the silence is so loud.
Surviving is all Jeongguk's ever known. He never really got a chance to live, and he was fighting by his skin and teeth not to die. He still is now.
"I don't know how to do anything else," he replies, solemnly.
He knows it's not much of a life, but it's the only one he's got.
"Gukie," Jimin says Jeongguk's name as though he's in pain, his face screwed up slightly like he is. "That makes me so sad."
