Goldenrod seed stems zigzag across the photo. Each stem is covered with clusters of seeds, the bristly pappus of each seed converging with those of neighboring seeds, making it look like bursts of fireworks of tiny cream colored stars up and down the stems.

Zinnias, salvias, cosmos, sneezeweeds, etc, in bright pinks, oranges, yellows, reds, purples and a splash of sky blue, a final blaze of glory in the P-Patch. All the colors are set off by masses of green leaves growing along the garden path. Green beans, rosemary and mint leaves mingle with red and pink zinnias. Another layer of plantings include blue green kale leaves, pink cosmos, and towering sunflower plants with bright yellow flowers.

Lavender pink dicentra flowers pop above their green lacy, feathery leaves. The flowers are shaped like flattened urns, with little up tipped petals at the end. They grow in short racemes along thin wiry stems above the leaves.

Big leaf maples are dropping their autumn tinged leaves onto the trail. The leaves are at various stages of subdued colorful decay. The leaves, arranged in a vaguely triangular array, show shades of yellow, pink, red, brown, green and tan. The concrete trail, full of pebbles, provides a rough contrast to the smooth texture of the palmate leaves with their five dentate main lobes.

Witches butter (probably Dacrymyces chrysospermus) grows in several small, orange, jelly-like, ridged blobs on dark brown, leathery looking, decaying leaves. A bit of bright green moss is also in the frame, growing amid the leaves, wjich were in a huge pikevunder a tree, as if they had all fallen at once.
