SECDEF COLBY

SECDEF COLBY

SECDEF COLBY

SECDEF COLBY
Here's a fun thing: Trump is running out of candidates to replace cabinet members.

Like, who's on deck to replace Hegseth, for example? They'd need that person *right goddamn now,* because there's no chance of getting them past Congress come January.

[free speech guy]

i don't think pete hegseth is the greatest secdef/war ever
that's not how civil wars work
November 6, 2026 at 10:57 PM
Old: Mayor Pete will be SecDef under the next Democratic administration.

New: Mayor Pete is SecDef under the current Trump administration.
November 5, 2026 at 12:59 PM
Whoever is SecDef in 2029 is going to need to have a long, hard think about how best to frankly trim and tame CENTCOM.
November 5, 2026 at 8:37 PM
Gonna repeat, again, that GOPers should convince Trump to appoint Turner SecDef.

But Trump won't do that bc he values loyalty over basic competence.
Rep. Mike Turner's defeat in Dayton means that Democrats will have an 8-7 majority in the Ohio delegation. The Ohio GOP gerrymander aimed at a 12R-3D map. Instead, the voters booted out 3 House GOP incumbents.
3 more GOP House seats flipping to the Dems, per AP:
CO-5 - Rep. Jeff Crank R-CO loses
OH-10 - Rep. Mike Turner R-OH loses
NC-9 - Rep. Richard Hudson R-NC loses

2 years of acting ptdo SECDEF tata it is then
I’ve said it before but the only path to a DOD-Congress political ceasefire is Mike Rogers (R-AL) SECDEF tenure.
The thing is i don’t even know who Trump can offer up that can get confirmed because republicans *also* hate Hegseth and OSD
November 5, 2026 at 3:13 AM
No, seriously, how do you look at Pete's tenure as SecDef/SecWar and actually think "this guy is better than Henry L. Stimson"
November 6, 2026 at 10:59 PM
I for one welcome our new SecDef, Budgets Steve 🫡

Looking forward to seeing SecDef Hegseth in front of a House committee that includes Admiral Lacore.

White House Shake-Up After Big Midterm Loss!

Is the departing top official the...

SecDef overseeing a failing war of choice?

Staffer driving a violent ethnic cleansing campaign?

Treasury Secretary who lost control of the bond market?

No, it's the highest ranking woman, one of the few remaining.

The thing about Hegseth is that even Reps within the armed committees hate him. All the hearings have turned into him blowing off all of them left and right. Idk what they are going to do the Cheese boy but I hope it is equally as painful.

Indeed - the job of the SecDef is not to be the best officer for the same reason the job of a general officer is not to be the best rifleman.

You want a SecDef who is thinking about the political dimensions of conflict and managing the massive DoD bureaucracy.
historically, secdefs have *not* been generals, and indeed generals need a congressional waiver to become secdef! but we have deluded ourselves into thinking that war should be "left to the professionals."

if dead carl convinces you of one thing, it should be that this is ass-backwards
Are You Tired of Winning Yet?
The Trump administration has chosen to forget that airpower provides no way to force a favorable peace.

Interim-SecDef Rubio, he will also be Interim-CJCS. He will personally lead jump into Cuba. They will make an example out of him.
November 5, 2026 at 2:01 AM
I’m sure the President and SecDef Hegseth are totally on top of this.
November 6, 2026 at 8:29 PM
Hegseth is toast. It's just a question of how and when. Does Trump fire him or give him the dignity of resigning? Does he get impeached first? And will Trump do it in time to shove a replacement through a GOP Senate? If not, does he just have an acting SecDef for as long as he can?
Trump: "Pete Hegseth has done a fantastic job."

("Has done" is interesting ... )

*refreshing USAjobs waiting for the SECDEF job opening to post*

Senator Hegseth is better than SecDef Hegseth. He won't be able to murder fishermen or order forced testosterone testing for all his colleagues.
For what it is worth
