They're not secularists, they're anti-Muslim racists.
Legault says there is no systemic racism in Quebec and saying so equals claiming ALL Québécois are racist. His base is rural white francophone in a closed media bubble (Quebecor, a white nationalist media conglomerate).

The new "religion" now, the real fanatics, are the secularacists.

Surreal to see self-proclaimed secularists and free speech advocates defending the death penalty for blasphemy. The hypocrisy seems missed upon them.

“I've seen secularists bemoan greater Democratic comfort with religion as a kind of erosion of church and state from the left. But they miss the point…It is purposefully and strategically countering a dangerous ideology rooted in a form of Christianity.”

@hollybfletcher.bsky.social with a must-read
This piece was inspired by @sarahlongwell25.bsky.social and @robertpjones.bsky.social new books and argues for a messaging strategy tailored specifically to white evangelicals, probably the most influential bloc in our politics and 1/3 of Trump's coalition.

You Can't Run From Christian Nationalism
White evangelicals are the single most influential voting bloc in American politics. They cannot be ignored.

Rightfully suspicious secularists and non-Christians on one side, Christians pissed off you’re not teaching their interpretation as truth on the other, all yelling at you

Right-wing Catholic Daily Wire podcaster Michael Knowles and Protestant Christian nationalist Doug Wilson find common ground in their common enemies: progressives and secularists

Post-secularists end game 😒

Trump nominee Pete Hegseth attends a church in the “CREC”, a denomination founded by Doug Wilson who wrote in 2022 that, “There is no such entity as the Judeo/Christian religion,” & that the “Judeo/Christian tradition” is a “device” used by secularists to undermine Christian governance. Pls read. 1/

Happy Spring Thanksgiving to all my fellow secularists out there.

What I'm seeing out of the "Gods are probably real" thing is not how religious people would behave differently but how secularists believe people would behave differently.
I hate the "fantasy religions work differently when you can prove your gods are real" because REAL religions don't depend on whether their deity is real. Such a moronic aphorism for people who refuse to think about it for more than 5 seconds.

THIS. THIS. This is the entire basis of the religious freedom arguments I've been prattling on about! They (and by extension Trump) are simultaneously God's powerful anointed and under attack by secularists, the deep state, satan, etc.

Let’s hope atheists and agnostics and secularists were also there. Religions are the cause of so much division and typically prey on the vulnerable.

I remember thinking, I found my people when I found “skeptics” and “secularists” in college, then was like “wait, why do I end up having so much more in common with progressive Christian, Jewish, and Muslim friends than these guys”
A lot of people stick with him because of his criticisms of American christianity. Which then ironically also primes them to accept his islamophobia and transphobia.

Which “Christian beliefs” do secularists find “abhorrent and uncouth?” Cause the Christian God’s only vessel on Earth left the ICU to tweet about how badly behaved - and unChristian - American Christian nationalists are.
Interesting story that gets to the heart of why many Christians feel persecuted in the U.S.: The secular elite find many of their views abhorrent and uncouth

Secularists are more politically active.

About 30% of Secularists and Religionists participate in political activities, while only 17% of Nonreligionists do. The Nonreligious are less engaged, and their political impact may be less predictable

“The current curriculum describes German Texans as farmers and immigrants but glosses over their history as radical freethinkers and secularists who helped to redefine our state.”
