Unit 13: VOLTA units are designed to fight humans. But their programming says that's bad. So, they suffer deeply cause of this negative loop.

Its interesting that they don't give them SELCI programming, but then again, I suppose the powers that be wouldn't want that.

an extremely minor edit I'm making in AQU that has outsized lore significance is replacing most of the SELCIs with VOLTAs

SELCIs are cops, they're almost never given heavy armament, and they're famously deranged, something detailed in ASOS, Mask, and even the appendix

VOLTAs are more level-headed

10: CORAs are famously unstable, but what's fairly unknown is that SELCIs are not much better. SELCIs are not technically supposed to draw their weapons or use any meaningful force unless directly threatened, but administrators generally find the ways SELCIs break down to be beneficial to their ends

Q1:
Working in first person sensory detail is vitally important to ground the reader, but it can also be a wonderfully evocative tool if you get a little less literal with it.
This isn't a great example of what I'm talking about but it's a passage I like from A Sea of Silence!
