My co. managed 20+ rural hosps in 3 States. 70% of their funds come from Medicare and Medicaid. Since these programs don't allow for any profits, the hosps rely on 30% Selfpay and Ins. The selfpay at 10% result in bad debts. It's not hard to see what the finaicial impact would be with cuts.

This. Even if people aren’t on Medicaid now, Hospitals route the eligible uninsured to sign up for Medicaid retro-actively. Medicaid cuts means more uninsured/selfpay and almost all of that ends up written off as uncollectible. Even low (Medicaid) reimbursement rates are better than nothing.

The price is what's insane, docs joke it's called "scoping for dollars". Cologuard DNA screening has helped for those who have low family history risk www.cologuard.com at free from ins or $600 selfpay.

I paid $3k for that insurance. now my mhc that I explicitly told "I will do only as many sessions of therapy as my insurance will pay for". My insurance was cool with 2+ a week.

I would have been at one a month or none. I do not have money for even the selfpay rate for one session a month let alo
so my mental health clinic fucked me for the second year in a row, first refusing to let me continue remote psychiatric med management as an IC person and now not running my insurance and claiming NOPE IT WAS CANCELED and that's it

HOW DID MY POLICY WORK FOR MONTHS AFTER THAT, IT WAS COBRA

I have a $3134.87 bill for 2 visits with a NP and basic bloodwork last month. That is with a selfpay discount.
I negotiated healthcare contract between physicians, hospitals and insurances. There is NOT ONE Ins. contract that would have reimbursed that much money to provider for those services.

We'll know on the institutional side if payor mix changes w/ increasing selfpay/no pay, or CMI starts to rise absent other environmental changes.

Would be curious to know if ACA members pulled services forward in advance of the cutoff, because institutional healthcare had a banner year.

They won't be the only ones.

If the payor mix at institutions shifts towards selfpay (aka nopay) institutions will go knocking at the employer insurance doors for a raise in reimbursements translated to a raise in premiums and copays for private insurance.

So basically there's this app called SelfPay that lets you add money to your bank account from a terminal that's basically in every supermarket here and they added identity verification but didn't bother sending out notifications for that so I had to get my ID out and take pictures of it and myself-

Bag picioru in el de SelfPay că a trebuit să-mi scot buletinul în mijlocul magazinului ca să-mi verifice identitatea că nu ar fi putut și ei să dea o notificare sau ceva din timp
