I think they are pretty continuous-ish, but many ‘Greeks’ (classical Hellenes) were Arabized or Turkified during the Abbasid, Seljuk, & Ottoman periods

This day in history. 1121. Battle of Didgori. Georgian king David IV's army was victorious over the famous, it says in Wikipedia, Seljuk emir Ilgazi but I don't even know what a Seljuk is. Anyway why do they call it a battle and not a Didgori do?
