Water guns in hand, seniors across the nation — including those at Carlmont High School — are joining “Senior Assassin,” a multi-week game that marks the countdown to summer. The thrilling, high-stake...

Police in Ontario are investigating an incident linked to the popular 'Senior Assassin' game, which has recently gained traction among Grade 12 students. The game, often played as a stress-relief activity near graduation, involves 'eliminating' assigned targets using water, Nerf, or pellet guns, with players often using goggles or pool floaties for protection. However, a recent video circulating on social media shows a young man spraying an unhoused Indigenous individual with a water gun while he was seated, sparking public concern and police involvement. Community activists have condemned the behaviour as harmful and disrespectful towards vulnerable individuals. Ontario Provincial Police have confirmed an active investigation, noting that any unwanted physical contact could be considered assault under Canadian law. Authorities in other provinces, including Alberta, have issued warnings after similar incidents, highlighting the risk of water guns being mistaken for real firearms. Schools have reiterated that the game is not sanctioned on school grounds, and administrators are urging students to consider the safety and dignity of others. The Kenora Catholic District School Board emphasised its commitment to fostering compassion, respect, and responsible decision-making among students, stressing that such incidents, even if intended as harmless fun, can have serious consequences.
