Alexis Gabrielle Santiago, (they/them) a sephira (fox) skald. Their face is covered in war-paint, with a symbol of Tyr painted on their forehead. Doing a revision of Aveline, she has changed a lot from her previous iteration, developing bird-like elements when she came of age, she ended up becoming a fox gryphon. She's also an alchemist.

The previous designs of Reina and Kaji were solid, but lacked a lot of the refinements that come with letting ideas ferment in one's head. Still, they're worth sharing.

The first source of inspiration is Pokemon, playing through Violet had very much shaped my ideas on how I would like to do type relationships in #SephiraTale.

In fact, it is one of the biggest divergence from the game jam build where I had used some weird Golden Sun-like 4 elements system.

From left to right: --- Reyes Valencia (they/them, often misgendered as he/him) Fencer - Earth/Orange - Twin Blades An Elite from the Crown Brotherhood cult who had been groomed from a young age. Depressed and filled with trauma, they would eventually transition under the cult's nose. --- Soren Kasumi (xey/xem, gendered as everything except as such) Sorcerer - Shadow/Purple - Staves Reyes' childhood friend. Rebellious, bratty and disdainful of authority, xey gained the ire of a lot of other cult members, but also their fear as they are a powerful sorcerer. --- Chelsea Allens (she/her) Cleric - Water/Blue - Scindre Reyes' girlfriend from another village. Kind, understanding, and above all principled, she helps Reyes throughout their journey. From left to right: --- Leon Maxwell (he/him, later she/they/he) Dragonfist - Fire/Red - Fists One of the higher ranking acolytes from the Crown Brotherhood. Leon is brash, hotheaded and direct, and would later transition while staying in the cult, having felt that there's nowhere else to go. --- Morne "Silverheart" Chevalier (he/him) Ranger - Ice/Cyan - Bows Also a high ranking acolyte of the cult, Silverheart is the ice to Leon's fire. Where Leon would react with anger, Silverheart would employ cool logic to resolve. It is though this cold soicity where he would eventually derelict his own principles for the sake of calm austerity. From left to right: --- Eþelle Wilfriðottir (she/her, later he/they) Magus - Lightning/Yellow - Whip A witty and smart-mouthed operative in the Tyrseng Collective tasked with investigating the Crown Brotherhood and the mysterious disappearances of children from surrounding villages. Eþelle would later come to question his gender identity towards the end. --- Ignacio "Iori" Alvarrez (he/him) Monk - Wind/Green - Katars Eþelle's boyfriend and field medic of the Tyrseng Collective, he provides any first aid needed during field operations. Despite his fierce and intimidating stature, he is a very kind and gentle soul, dedicated to protecting the weak and weary with deadly force if needed. --- Alexis Gabrielle Santiago (they/them) Skald - Light/White - Spears A brave and compassionate skald with a near infinite-capacity for mercy. They support the Tyrseng Collective by providing the operatives with inspiring songs and sagas.

She carries two plasma blades, and an energy pistol with her. A female feathered koboldette-like creature known as Inquisitor Aminah Nur Ad-Alya. She has wing-arms and another set of small flightless wings sprouting from her back. She is very buff, carrying a greataxe/scythe hybrid, a heavy crossbow and a whip. A male feathered lizard-like creature with small flightless wings, feathered wing-arms and prominent goat horns, known as Investigator Faizal Nur-Ad Alya. He is slender-built, carrying a medium crossbow, a talwar and several katars strapped to his hip in a feathered skirt pattern.

A big motivation for designing the lineages the way I did for #SephiraTale is due to feeling dissatisfied with how...generically Tolkienesque the designs of heroes vs monsters are with the #RPGMaker RTP, and it lead me down the rabbit hole of weaving a story of cyclical trauma.
