Glenn Gary Cameron, a 61-year-old former funeral director from Sydney, has pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting eight women in the eastern suburbs between 1991 and 1993, an attack spree that earned him the nickname 'Night Stalker' or 'Moore Park Rapist'. After three decades in hiding, Cameron broke down in court on Monday, expressing deep remorse for his actions. 'I hate myself, I hate who I am, I hate my name, I hate my whole existence,' he told the district court, adding, 'I'm really sorry, believe me ... I feel helpless.' Cameron, now 62, described how he lured victims to secluded areas of Moore Park and the inner west, threatening them with a knife. He admitted to feeling a sense of power during the assaults and acknowledged knowing he was causing harm, though he claimed he initially thought victims might 'like him' after scaring them. Cameron denied awareness of media coverage about his crimes, stating his then-wife's pregnancy prompted him to stop. DNA evidence from a 2024 airport swab linked him to four victims, leading to his arrest. He admitted to 13 charges and will face sentencing for 14 additional charges. Judge John Pickering noted the severity of the crimes, stating remorse would only factor minimally into the sentence. Cameron's testimony followed a defence submission about childhood abuse, which the judge dismissed as 'a fairly extreme position.' The case has drawn comparisons to the 2000 pack rapes of teenage girls, with the ringleader serving a 36-year term.
