My Job compared 9/11 to a snowstorm

We had a snow storm over the weekend and a lot of restaurants closed down. My job on the other hand, sent us this memo.

Dear staff,
As our first significant storm of the season approaches, we think it is important to explain our company policy regarding operations during inclement weather.
For those who have been with us through previous challenges-from natural disasters and power outages to the events of September 11th and the pandemic-you understand our commitment. For those newer to the team, we would like to share our philosophy.
We believe
provides an
essential service as a neignpornood gathering place.
We often act as our neighbors' kitchens and a space for comfort and connection. This is why we make every effort to remain open, frequently serving as the only accessible space in the neighborhood during a storm.
We do not stay open for financial gain; in fact, operational costs during these times often exceed revenue. We do it because we take pride in our service and in the gratitude we receive from our community during difficult moments.
