和洋折衷 (wayō setchū) is the glorious mashup #Japan meets West. Applied ti breakfast, miso soup cozies up to buttery toast and rice nods politely at scrambled eggs. nothing’s lost in translation, and everyone leaves the table feeling a little smug about their cultural sophistication

Rōbai is one of the 'Four Friends of the Snow' (雪中四友 'Setchū-no-shiyū'), 4 plants (including plum, camellia and narcissus) that flower in the snow.
