My mother's silver thimble from Finland. I was given this when I was five years old and learning to sew. She hated sewing and I think that she gave this to me in the hope that I would learn quickly and take over the mending.

I have a collection of vintage sewing machines and use them in the classes when I teach sewing. We clean and service them ourselves. And in order to do that I have made sure that we have a supply of spare parts.

When I decide on getting a vintage machine or not. I open it and see whether there are any plastic parts. The older plastic wheels have a tendency to disintegrate over time and not all of them are replaceable. #quiltsky #sewingteacher #quiltteacher #priganart #sewsky #sewingclasses
