Reuters vincula a Discover-Tech con posible vigilancia de usuarios de Starlink
Discover-Tech, empresa israelí de publicidad digital, habría dirigido anuncios a usuarios de Starlink para localizarlos o vigilarlos, según Reuters. La agencia cita el 27 de octubre de 2026 a seis fuentes anónimas familiarizadas con la investigación de TrendAI.
En su informe del 15 de octubre, TrendAI, unidad de Trend Micro, describe al comprador como SHADOW-EARTH-79. Lo sitúa primero en pujas ganadas sobre tráfico de Starlink en **105 países** , sin identificar públicamente a Discover-Tech.
## México y España aparecen en la muestra
El desglose de TrendAI para junio de 2024 a junio de 2026 asigna a ese comprador 557 de 833 pujas ganadas observadas en México (**66.9 %**) y 1,352 de 1,542 en España (**87.7 %**).
El análisis se limita a la telemetría de una plataforma de compra de anuncios. Los porcentajes miden su peso en esa muestra, no la proporción de clientes de Starlink vigilados.
## Los anuncios pueden exponer datos sin un clic
Las subastas publicitarias comparten información sobre los dispositivos que recibirán los anuncios. Citizen Lab, de la Universidad de Toronto, describe cómo Discover-Tech utilizaba la publicidad para perfilar usuarios y seleccionar objetivos.
En su investigación del 15 de octubre, el laboratorio vinculó con alta confianza los ataques mediante anuncios contra al menos 45 dispositivos de Al Jazeera en 2024 y 2025 con software espía de Candiru. La técnica permitía infectar equipos al mostrarse publicidad, sin que la víctima pulsara un enlace.
El laboratorio advierte que ver un anuncio de Discover-Tech no confirma por sí mismo un ataque dirigido ni una infección. En el caso de Starlink, las pujas permiten observar la distribución publicitaria; una infección exige evidencia adicional.
Discover-Tech y SpaceX no respondieron a Reuters.
La investigación de Citizen Lab ya tuvo consecuencias en la publicidad digital: Google cerró a Discover-Tech el acceso a sus intercambios publicitarios y Beeswax la retiró de su plataforma de compra.
