Flashback to 2021 & Hebdens Tea at 21 Shambles, York. A house built in the 1770s later became a butcher's shop (hence the huge sash window. Now a specialist twa shop offering samples through the window.

The passageway through 37 Shambles, York. This may have been a reserved right of way pre-dating the 15th century structure with the arched entrance, giving access to the rear ranges of the 14th century 36 Shambles.

Another snicket in York, at 34 Shambles. This leads from Shambles to the market place created in the 1950s. The shop at no 33 the iron bar for hanging goods, probably pieces of meat, is still in situ though the business has changed many times.

My drawing of Shambles, York was finished on 10th January 2022. In the centre is the 3 storey 41, 42 Shambles, a 15th century building that seems to be having a whispered talk to numbers 7-9 across the way.
