My ShareFSServer for #RISC_OS is getting better and better, in the picture sharing a large PDF (more than 10MB) over #OpenVPN !!! Linux Server at home running the ShareFS server and picture on my RPCEmu from my favorite Cafe runnign on an Apple M1 and connected via OpenVPN. Progress!!!

#RISC_OS #ShareFSServer just got also the server-side notifications working. This means if an object is changed from Server side (aka not from one of the RISC OS clients), RO clients still get the notification and can request an update (this is how ShareFS works). ShareFSServer optimizes this 👇

#RISC_OS folks, finally (after a month of batling) I have finally decoded and sucesfully reverse engineered the way ShareFS handle the distribution of updates to all connected clients! ShareFSServer is now capable of updating all clients and seems fairly reliable too. Stay tuned for next build soon!

This weekend is "fun" working to add more logic to #ProjectMerlin to complete PCI/PCIe support (this will take some work) and need to get back at #ShareFSServer ! At least is #RISC_OS stuff, so some fun.

An example of how #RISC_OS #ShareFSServer makes many RISC OS tools a lot more useful and in some case they can get quite useful beyond RISC OS uses it self: SiteMatch matching now on pretty much every protocol and level of encryption and security without changing a single line of source code:
SiteMatch utility having no issue with pretty much every web sharing protocols and FTP/FTPS/SFTP and more.

My ShareFSServer runs on:

- #Mac Intelx64/ ARM64
- #Windows Intel 32 /64
- #Linux #Intel 32/64, #ARM 32/64, #RISC-V 64
- #FreeBSD Intel 32/ 64
- #NetBSD Intel 32 / 64

It's obviously memory safe, multi-threaded and use async I/O

And yes, like every other share you can access it also via command line, and from your beloved BBC BASIC ;) - imagine what you'll be able to do with this.

Of course you can open files directly too.
