Oracle's board oversees a company whose largest shareholder has now tied part of his stake to a media acquisition. At the same time, the Warner Bros transaction depends partly on the value of Oracle stock. The trade-off is a familiar one: a founder with a large stake can bring

Its argument is that financial stress can spread through channels that rarely make the headlines. One such channel appeared in the same news cycle. Reports say Larry Ellison, Oracle's co-founder and largest shareholder, has pledged a further $9 billion of his Oracle shares to

I was even furious they allowed bad live action remakes and even shareholder slop like Quantumania (hate MODOK) and Awkwafina rapping Scuttlebutt. 2023 was one of Disney’s worst performing years.

Harnessing the power of legacy brand IPs to provide maximum shareholder value

Okay but if the company always wins and I own the company, do I not win?

"Large shareholders benefit the most" okay so why would I want to be as small of a shareholder as possible rather than a large one?

Obama may not have been worse than Reagan but he definitely carried on the same Policy of Feed the Ruling Corporate Class and Starve the Working Class. What does it even matter who was "Worse"?
You cannot create "Affordability" by protecting Corporate Profits and Shareholder Value.

Really enjoyed this piece by @jaredb-econ.bsky.social and @weakinstrument.bsky.social [not the only ones to make this point, but nicely argued]

An interesting question is whether this is just setting shareholder value on fire, or inducing bigger problems

AI Companies Are In a Race Against Time
They may disemploy us; they may wipe us out. But right now, their lack of profitability underscores our bubble case.

Shareholder-only firms look ill-suited to a strong-AI era. I reviewed benefit corps, foundation ownership, co-ops and AI windfall ideas, then proposed a near-term design, where it fails, and how to test it: https://machengshen.github.io/company-architecture/
Corporate Architecture for a Strong-AI Era: A Near-Term Study
A public policy study of corporate ownership and governance structures suited to a strong-AI era: benefit corporations, nonprofit-controlled labs, foundation ownership, cooperatives, codetermination, steward-ownership, windfall clauses, and provisions for voiceless stakeholders.

Think of all the efficiencies Medicare for All creates.
A single payer system, standardized records, standardized care. It's a beautiful thing. More of your monthly premiums go towards your care. Less of your monthly premium goes to fund CEO/Executive salaries, big buildings and shareholder profits.
Here's how we get Medicare for All done:

Make Medicare whole (no one can keep all the parts straight!)
Include vision, dental, and hearing.
Begin extending to more people, starting with children.

We arrive at Medicare for All, which means great Medicare for everyone.
