Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has signed a memo directing the military to defend the US midterm elections from foreign interference, the Pentagon said Monday.

A majority in the Climate, Environment and Technology Committee at Copenhagen Municipality approved a new plan Monday afternoon. According to it, the city has moved a step closer to introducing a zero-emission zone in part of Vesterbro, where petrol and diesel vehicles would generally not be allowed to drive. “It is really good that Copenhagen is now getting its first zero-emission zone. It is good for the climate and for reducing local air pollution,” Kristine Ammitzbøll-Bille of De Radikale, the Danish Social Liberal Party, told TV 2 Kosmopol. The proposal was originally larger but was changed after 768 consultation responses from residents, businesses and interest groups. Around 80 percent of the responses were either critical or reserved about the plan. The revised version exempts all of Vesterbrogade, the area around Copenhagen Central Station, Skelbækgade and part of Halmtorvet. Residents of Vesterbro who have parking permits for areas outside the zero-emission zone will also be able to apply for exemptions allowing them to drive and park fossil-fuel cars inside the zone. The adjusted zone will cover Inner Vesterbro, apart from the areas that have been exempted. The proposal must now be approved by the Danish Environmental Protection Agency before it can go to Copenhagen’s Borgerrepræsentation, the city council, for final approval. A final vote is expected by the end of 2026.
