Also, shock treatment was commonly used in treating epilepsy; here in this Noir, Dr. Cross is using it to kill the witness of his murdering his wife.

Does that equivocate to a seizure when D, Cross (Vincent Price) says she collapsed and went into shock? It would be more dramatic than merely fainting.

Erik's point is another one indicating a "nervous collapse" could be a euphemism for an epileptic seizure.

Just learned that apparently a number of WWII vets were "given" this exact insulin therapy and it basically destroyed their brains like a chemical lobotomy.
