The small Shockwave that travels with him is actually a plush toy Blurr brought to life with his own small magic. Although he looks harmless, he can shapeshift and grow much larger whenever Blurr needs protection. Blurr mainly wanted companionship, while Shockwave believes guarding him is necessary.

Shockwave is an excellent cook, far better than Blurr, and he keeps the house/shop tidy. And because he has existed as a plush for a very long time, he knows considerably more about magic than Blurr does from watching previous owners.
Shockwave is also a very good cuddle companion. (He hates it)
