yes, these were part of the nuclear deterrence that has always been active since 1950s. That deterrence (of both sides - ICBMs, airborne nukes, SLBMS etc) left political decision space. The shortrange nukes dont. Thats what the IMF treaty was designed to suppress, which Russia canceled.

the SmolSlimes tempt me so. i could make twenty of those with some goofy huge batteries (.. for those things, anyways) and swap those out to charge once every few days

BUT.. their shortrange 2.4 GHz protocol would not be amenable to house-wandering. hmm

BUT so far I haven't fought or found a single dynamo player ingame that really knows what they're doing. They'll abuse the power over shortrange weapons, but have no idea how to push. Its something you really have to figure out all the positions that work best for it on offense on EVERY MAP.

The coolest thing about the massive self-own accumulation of tech debt is that it only goes up. I never never once seen an LLM fix a bug by resolving an underlying flawed design, at best you get shortrange patches, but usually the fix is to strap on a whole new layer of complexity.
The truth is that some engineers found what they perceive to be a short-cut to KPIs and executives have investors to impress, but the industry has no idea what is required to maintain QA standards and manage tacit knowledge/tech debt/agility through the lifecycle of a software product.
