Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith and Caddo Parish Sheriff Henry Whitehorn pledged continued cooperation with the Gator task force, citing recent narcotics and firearm seizures and promising dedicated deputies and investigators.

Chief Reese told the council that most major crime categories are down year-to-date—including vehicle thefts (32%) and homicides (71% from the same period last year)—and described steps to aid domestic-violence victims, including pamphlets in patrol cars and a designated safe-haven at the new North Market Police Station opening March 5.
