There are lots of strange looking animals that are actually fish. Seahorses and pipefish? Fish. Shrimpfish (look em up). Fish. Candiru - a very strange and potentially dangerous catfish. Just because they don't look like Nemo doesn't mean they aren't "fish".

Found a pair of huge Hinged Shrimpfish (Aeoliscus strigatus). The first ones in this video are typical size 10-15cm. The last two were over 20cm! And they allowed me a nice close up.

there are 5 extant species of shrimpfish & razorfish (family Centriscidae), 1 is in southern hemisphere, other 4 in Indo-Pacific. In Late Miocene/Early Pliocene however several species inhabited the Mediterranean, including this one from the Marche region in Italy #FossilFriday
