A roadside honesty stall in New Taipei’s Shuangxi District. Last time we were here, I walked away with a couple of chunky squashes (they made a great soup), this time I got a resplendent bag of celery, some sweet potatoes and a taro ice lolly — a steal at NT$100 for the lot.

A roadside honesty stall in New Taipei’s Shuangxi District. Last time we were here, I walked away with a couple of chunky squashes (they made a great soup), this time I got a resplendent bag of celery, some sweet potatoes and a taro ice lolly — a steal at NT$100 for the lot.
From there, we grabbed YouBikes and cycled along the road to Mudan (slightly uphill, which is why I usually prefer to finish in Shuangxi).

Yesterday, I took my parents on another of my favourite Taipei day trips (well, near enough, we did it in reverse but all the ingredients were the same).
We started off by taking a train to Shuangxi where we mooched around the old houses, got coffee, green bean cakes and triple peanut shaved ice.
