The quality of tool steel has dropped significantly in recent years. Its not just cheap brands either.
Anecdotally, a new set of klein sidecutters i got my dad show damage after wiring like 4 rooms, cutting nothing bigger than 12/2 or 14/3. Looks worse than my 25yo pair, which has done 5000+ cuts

Spray paint for van windows, ice pics for tires, extra cuff keys, sidecutters for zip ties. They can't kidnap anyone if they can't do their jobs.

Wonderful. I once tried unsuccessfully to cut a predator snare off the neck of a raccoon. My knife wasn't the right tool. So now there's always a pair of sidecutters in my truck

A pair of small sidecutters that fit in the pocket are easy to carry and very effective for snipping tire valve stems.

My nicest sidecutters (Lindstrom 8248), complete with note to workmates to not use them. These puppies are so beautifully made I can cut individual leads off SOICs.

Sadly the Chinese nylon and tiewraps have survived the winter here too. Flamethrowers would appear to be the best solution unless you fancy shinning up a lamppost with some sidecutters gripped in your teeth.

Real Grades are hard, finicky builds. I'd recommend starting with a High Grade, but if you think you've got the patience (and a good pair of sidecutters) then you could do a real grade.
Your Miniso will likely have a real grade kit or two.

Real Grades are hard, finicky builds. I'd recommend starting with a High Grade, but if you think you've got the patience (and a good pair of sidecutters) then you could do a real grade.

A dedicated hobby hand saw you can make steady back-and-forth motions with, alongside a reliable set of hobby sidecutters will be your friend for most everything you need done. A pin vise is also recommended for making holes- especially because you can then make pegs for reassembly with jewlery wire

Is the one from the knife sharpening guy? If so i watched it last night and it was extremely validating. Hes talking wire-strippers which i think translates fine but cutting on strippers is arguably a secondary function. Sidecutters are ONLY for cutting and it seems like a similar issue maybe

I stopped being even remotely accurate at anything around the time Russia fed the entire pre war VDV into an airport sized blender. It’s just gotten weirder and weirder, like, we have rocket armed ground drones, and a counter to one of the most terrifying weapons in memory is a pair of sidecutters!

they're not even in one of the several boxes i use to collect tools that "wander" upstairs 😖

Load out 60 lbs of tools in my backpack, use a couple of screwdrivers, sidecutters, wire strippers, and few wrenches. Also my fluke multimeter.
Had I done a full load out of tools and brought my Pelican box, I'd have had a 30 amp ATC fuse on hand, rather than having to run to the hardware store.

If you witness a kidnapping and want to stop it you can use these sidecutters to clip two tire valve stems in about 20 seconds. The kidnappers will have two flat tires and can't escape. Easy to carry hidden in your back pocket. Good ones run $15-$20. Been seeing many kidnappings on social lately.
