i dont have very much voice dysphoria normally, like i *can* do a really fem voice but im too lazy most of the time. but dysphoria got to me when i was in my aural skills/sightsinging class trying to sing stuff i could normally sing and not having the range

i haaaate auditions so fucking much lin and last time he basically said i was pitchy during the a cappella song i sang but i nailed sightsinging, tonal memory, etc! and like ffs i was nervous and singing a song that usually has accompaniment acap let me live!!!

I‘m sick and had a feverish dream where Izzy from OFMD sang next to me in my church choir and I flirtingly explained shapenotes to him, then my choir director overheard and suddenly we were all sightsinging some shapenotey song, but it was in ROUND notes with crazy intervals. Izzy liked it though.

The u/g choir director also taught sightsinging, and went on and on about how the descending fourth from mi to ti is one of hardest diatonic intervals to get, and after half the class faceplanted trying it, I had to hand it to him.

disclaimer I was never trained in voice despite my music background, but I was doing a lot of sightsinging for aural skills when my voice was starting to change (which was SO much fun 😑) so I knew roughly what my range was before and the scope is pretty much the same, just down about half an octave

Grade 5 singing booked for March! I’ve never done a singing exam before so we’re starting gently. Next stop apparently Grade 8 or diploma but let’s not get ahead. Now to relearn aural and sightsinging skills!
