Mattias DeLussier! My favorite villain. He is a necromancer performance artists who will turn you into a work of theatrical art, body and soul.

He's unrepentantly evil, well dressed, and old AF but doesn't look it.

He summons a ghost orchestra for fights.

Hello, #NovemberWorldbulders! We're talking about morality in our fictional worlds this week. Today's prompt is the opposite of yesterday's: are there any characters in your world's history/lore who are considered evil? Whether ontologically evil or someone who made bad choices. Who were they?

The pine forest was getting tedious, so I started on some unicorns to adorn the Singing Woods.

Horses are hard to draw.

Big map.

I may still do some tweaking.

#SigilsOfMalice #FantasyMap #Maps #Art
The full, inky, black and white map for the Sigils books by Rebecca E. Reyes. It shows dozens of cities and landmarks in the Omeran Empire's five territories: Northern Omera, Southern Omera, Province of Alderia, the Kingdom of Delamar, and the Terralia Islands. Navikula has an unnatural fog of war. Omerans don't know what's over there anymore. Only what's just beyond the wall and on the southern shore. Way south is the Singing Woods, hiding Syneth, with lakes on the canopies where the southern border ends. Otherwise, the west is blocked off by mountains and the ocean seems endless, hence why it's called the Endless Ink. Beasts drawn on the map are a kraken in the water, a dragon among the basalt and volcanoes, a harpy automaton at the Navikulan Border Wall, unicorns in the Singing Woods, a calygreyhound in the Valley of the beasts, and a gloom spider in Navikula's void. I'm nowhere near done, but I'm attempting character art of Thalia. This is her least favorite outfit--the infamous tiger fur dress from her beast taming act.

It's a circus costume, so more embellishments to come.

Sigils of Malice only takes place in the Imperial Capital of Grace. I did not think it needed the traditional map, since the story stands well without it.

What do you guys think of this edited version of my giant, overall map to add to Malice? Add it to the book?

A section of the Omeran Empire's map. At the center is the Imperial Capital of Grace. It shows the four paladin orders fortresses: Pegasus, Griffin, Kraken, and Dragon. Surrounding lands are also visible. It's very artsy and was drawn by the author, me. Rebecca E. Reyes.

Does character art sell books? Drawn by the author, here are two amazing people from Sigils of Malice.

It'd be a shame if a showgirl destroyed the imperial capital's gilded façade because her 'cat' went missing.

Thalia Clayton in a glittering tiger fur dress for the circus. She's a muscular woman with rusty brown hair. No makeup in this version of the picture. Behind her is a calygreyhound, a chimera made of a lynx's face and tail, a stag's body, antlers and back legs, and the wings and claws of a mythical eagle called a roc. I don't describe the jeweled toned wings in the books, but I had fun coloring them. Art by Rebecca E. Reyes

Thalia is a mere showgirl, incapable of using magic. Through some reluctant partnerships, this found family story is a dangerous journey into a gilded underbelly of corruption and abuse.

Before coloring, I figured I'd add the inky outline of the calygreyhound to my map #WIP for my Sigils books. I just inked him more.

I am working full time on Sigils of Redemption, since The Sarcophagus of Lamia Book 2 is essentially done.

I finished coloring him!

No, I don't describe all these colors on Frendo the calygreyhound in the books. No, I don't know what bird feet look like. But what I do know is...

Water can be boiled and frozen at the same time.

Oh, and that I love how Frendo looks.

I shared a partial image earlier of Thalia Clayton, but here's the full thing. I keep drawing her from book 1, but book 2 she started getting visible tattoos.

Thalia Clayton from Sigils of Blight, with her tattoos. Thalia has brown hair with red highlights, hazel monolid eyes, and a rosy smile. arms are exposed, showing her muscles and her tattoos of a calygreyhound, serpent, winged snake, a phoenix, and a crow on her left index finger. Thalia is wearing her undergarments, but they don't show much. Bloomers and a camisole. In her hand is a men's green shirt. Her hair is up and she has simple earrings. Art by Rebecca E. Reyes

This kraken is the second of many creatures that will be painted around the map. Obviously I need a dragon and a unicorn somewhere.

The sad part is that a 6x9 book isn't large enough to show off the map when I finish it, but I'll work something out.

#SigilsOfMalice #FantasyMap #SFF #Art
The coastline of my map in progress showing the Terralia islands and the eastern coast of the empire, but it's mostly there to show the size of the kraken in the middle of the water. A kraken peeking two octopi arms and one eye out of the water. A ship sailing beside it is roughly the size of the eye.
