#Single-atom
That’s maybe the most insulting thing I’ve ever said.

I fucking hate myself down to my every single atom, but I’m still better than a lot of people.

Those people that I’m better than should feel devastating amounts of shame over that.

Single Oxygen Atom Explains How Life Began on Earth

A single oxygen atom on RNA explains how primordial molecules clustered into protective droplets before cells existed, solving a key origin-of-life puzzle.

Far be it from us to despair at any time of the incalculable favors of God, for if it were His wish He could cause a mere atom to be transformed into a sun and a single drop into an ocean. He unlocketh thousands of doors…

The miracle of even our own existence is far beyond human conception or imagination. The human body contains about 30 to 37 trillion cells, and a single typical human cell contains roughly 100 trillion atoms, each atom with multiple particles, and quarks, which seem to exist everywhere and nowhere?!
THE EVOLUTION OF LIFE ON EARTH is the true “miracle”, NOT the anti-Science dogma and delusions of Abrahamic Cult Bible Thumpers and their “Blind Faith” in absurdities that they believe will “save” them; yet quasi “Christian” criminal fascist manipulator Trump and MAGA Cult have ZERO regard for Life!
You've seen fireworks that look like jellyfish, but what about a jellyfish that looks like fireworks?

The E/V Nautilus filmed this rare Halitrephes maasi jellyfish glowing like a firework at a depth of 4,019 feet (1,225 meters) off the coast of Baja California, Mexico.

There's already a word for this. It's a Gilded Age.

This is the fucking electroplated age, the gilding is a single atom thin.
Pappas: It’s a golden age if you’re Don Jr. getting a Russian oligarch to pay for a wedding reception, but for the rest of us, it doesn’t feel like that. They can put out whatever numbers they want. The American people know that this is a totally incompetent president who is estranged from reality.

I am being consistent, and I will be consistent until the day I die, because it is a consistency that tells me that there isn't a single atom that isn't your own treasury - you are meaningful wherever you are. I regret being treated this way, but I will not be bullied away from compassion.

It's an idea he revisits in Hogfather, when Death talks about how you won't find a single atom of mercy or justice if you break down the universe to its smallest parts. He was a materialist who was fascinated by, and a champion of, the immaterial.

Quantum jumps hold a special place for me. My PhD at Yale was about catching them mid-flight in a superconducting atom.

Wonderful to see them now in sound: Stanford watched a single phonon leave a mechanical resonator in real time, read out by a superconducting qubit.

Double-clicking an atom in ChemDraw used to add a label. Now it adds a bond. This is EVIL. Why mess with muscle memory that's been going for years?! 🤬

By the way, it's now Option + click (Mac) or Alt + click (Windows).

ChemDraw: Double-clicking on an Atom adds a new bond instead of the text box to enter the label
This is an intended change in v25.5.  From version 25.5.0.5789, you need to use Alt+single-click instead of double (left) click to get the text box to enter the label.
