I wonder if our university leadership team are grateful that we didn’t vote for their preferred candidate for Chancellor in 2015, Peter Mandelson, and elected Lemn Sissay instead.

I love how poetry can say so much with a few words.

Lemn does this brilliantly, & not just in this poem

Here we have how love shapes an individual

Then, in the conditional 2nd stanza, the unknown. An interruption - how would we be if this love was lost?

i’ve worked with the poet lemn sissay a lot and one of our radio series - lemn sissay’s origin stories - started from the idea of how much kids in the care system relate to superheroes. lemn also did an installation on this theme at london’s foundling museum:

Pavement Poetry by Lemn Sissay on Tib Street Manchester this afternoon
