#Skepticon
I am so sorry about this.

I have been reading your work ever since I met you a decade ago at Skepticon in Springfield.

I guess the only thing I don't hate about this is that it's not just *you*, the entire outlet is closing down.

But that still sucks.

I was just thinking about Skepticon. Good times!

It's weird to me that I met Yudkowsky at a Skepticon - the same place I met you! (though a different year)

Do you remember if folks from the Center for Applied Rationality were at Skepticon?
September 24, 2026 at 2:35 PM
Julia Galef presented a couple times, but I don't know if that corresponded with her time at the Center for Applied Rationality:

I don't know that anyone else was there from CAR.

My ribses hurtses. :(

Despite all the nonsense I put my body through this Skepticon, I managed to injure myself on load-out by leaning too hard on a truck. Pretty damn sure I displaced my right 8th rib. Then popped it back in place the next day. Should probably see a doc huh?

Thank you @gwup | die skeptiker for capturing my empathy workshop during last years #Skepticon Being the only non-German speaker at a conference was interesting, but everyone made me feel welcome.

Yeah the difference between good skeptics and bad skeptics tends to be the good ones try VERY HARD to not be assholes because they aren't assholes and know how uncomfortable people get being told they're wrong. A youtube skeptic I like a lot literally gave a talk about it

The guy's sign excluded Skepticon attendees; the religious aspect was only implicit in his reference to his "Christian business."

The brothers Loxton point out that those who argue Gelato Guy broke the law must be assuming Skepticon was an atheist conference.
November 21, 2024 at 6:24 PM
Root cause of Skepticon gelato incident was brand confusion over an atheist convention labeled as a skeptic convention:
November 21, 2024 at 6:24 PM
Did I just miss it, or is that an argument it hasn't occurred to any "Skepticon" defenders to make? And is it even the case?
November 21, 2024 at 5:31 PM
Seems to me a better argument than I've heard for the name "Skepticon" would be: we want to promote *skeptical* atheism, not just atheism.
