I think the cards will be NFC / RFID or ever Skidata ones where they read it while it's on yourself. I can see a turnstyle world approaching. Here's the ladies loos being policed, right here with a simple skilift type pass.

also apparently SKIDATA is a pretty recognized name in ski lift passes around the world
it makes me think where else this could be useful if all of their access control systems use insecure cards. the IDs are 8 bytes long instead of the normal 4 or 7... why not just use straight up DESFire
