Coastal conditions are expected to improve this morning and no flooding is expected.

A flood warning has been issued as a result of high spring tides rising this evening and peaking early tomorrow morning. Tides will rise this evening and be at their peak of 6.45m at approximately 1:15am on Thursday 11th September, with the possibility of property flooding around Port Carlise. Please avoid driving through flood water and do not put yourself or others at risk. We will update this message by 9am on Thursday 11th September 2025, or as the situation changes.

There is no longer a threat of flooding, though standing water and debris may still remain.   Coastal conditions are expected to improve and no flooding is expected.    We will continue to monitor the situation and will issue further alerts or warnings if necessary.    If you have been evacuated only return to your property once the emergency services have advised that it is safe to do so. Never drive through flood water, just 30cm of fast flowing water is enough to move your car.

High tides, strong winds and large waves are expected to cause flooding throughout the evening.  Flooding is expected from 1:00AM to 3:00AM on 05/04/2026.  Potential flooding due to high winds from Storm Dave, subsequent tides not expected to have any impacts. Areas most at risk include Rockcliffe, Longburgh, Port Carlisle, Bowness-on-Solway, Anthorn, Angerton and Skinburness areas. We have closed flood gates at Skinburness Marsh.  We are closely monitoring the situation and will issue further alerts or warnings if necessary.  Avoid coastal footpaths, which may be flooded .  This message will be updated by 8:00AM on 05 April 2026 or as the situation changes. 

Flooding of roads and low lying land is possible, property flooding is not expected. Flooding is possible from 12:30 AM on Thursday 9 October. Tide levels will be at their highest between midnight and 03:00 AM. Areas most at risk include low lying coastline at Skinburness Marsh and at Port Carlisle. We do not expect the following high tides on Thursday afternoon and early Friday morning to reach flood alert level. We are closing flood gates at Skinburness Marsh. Be careful along beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads as large waves and sea spray could be dangerous.
