So happy that The Skipinnish Oak has won UK Tree of the Year. Another campaign win!! Several of my obsessions coming together - trees, bagpipes, my favourite Scottish band and getting back into Europe. What’s not to love?!

Couldn’t be there as was at @bloodcanceruk.bsky.social event. Great to meet up again with Paul who has kept 12 years worth of packaging of his life saving drugs

I’m voting for the Skipinnish Oak 🏴 for European tree of the year. I was there in 2009 when local lad Andrew from the band Skipinnish led us (NWDG) to this forgotten giant deep in a Sitka plantation. His father had shown him it as a child. The naming was informal shorthand from that visit and stuck.
