#SkyBuys
Flagging for #BookSky! This is going to be one of my upcoming #SkyBuys.
Hey, it’s the official release day for Seeing Like a Supply Chain! And of course I’m swamped with grading and lesson-planning, but maybe I can say a little about the book and the process of researching it. yalebooks.yale.edu/book/9780300...

Oh, I forgot one! Before I joined Bluesky, I knew Nnedi Okorafor @nnedi.bsky.social as an author of books for adults.

But I didn’t know until I followed her that she also writes for young people!

Just bought YA fantasy AKATA WITCHA for one of my nieces.

Should've tagged author @brianjoneseducator.bsky.social when I highlighted this entry in my #SkyBuys.
Why does this count as a #SkyBuy, when I picked up at as a freebie at the ALA conference?

Because it was languishing in the TBR pile until I saw @haymarketbooks.org post about it, and then I bought a copy for a gift!

I'm going to do a quick #SkyBuys thread to highlight books I've purchased (or purchased MORE of) because I read about them here on Bluesky.

First up is Thy Will Be Done: George Washington's Legacy of Slavery and the Fight for American Memory, by @johngmarks.com.

The final one of my #SkyBuys I'm going to highlight tonight is Oathbreakers by Matthew Gabriele and David M. Perry (@lollardfish.bsky.social).

I haven't received it yet, but I already have a gift recipient lined up!

I'm only on page 11, so I can't say much about the book itself yet. But I do want to flag a couple of things.

First, the cover is ART made by a HUMAN ARTIST named Titus Kaphar. No AI here!

And there is a powerful story behind it:

Next up: Ways of Seeing After Dark, a book that is very intentionally in conversation with the famous Ways of Seeing by John Berger.

The new one is by Kyle Parry, @kyleparry.bsky.social. www.upress.umn.edu/978151792214...

I *just* started reading it, so no thoughts yet.

Ooh, thanks! I love the #SkyBuys hashtag!

I’ve decided I’m going to start a hashtag for the books I’ve purchased because I found out about them here on Bluesky. It’s #SkyBuys

First up: @adibkhorram.bsky.social’s I’ll Have What He’s Having, an m/m romance with 30something characters

This isn’t one of my #SkyBuys, because the bookseller hand-sold it to me when she saw what else I was buying. Looks pretty interesting!

A Black Queer History of the US, by @crileysnorton and Darius Bost.

More #SkyBuys. I had read these books in e-book, but found out from @aribaranwrites.bsky.social that they were being released in pbk. Snatched up Game Misconduct and Home Ice Advantage immediately.

I esp loved the romance between two guys in their 40s and the delightful elder Jewish MIL. 📚💙
