Winnipeg. We used to have a world class electric tram system. There were serious plans for an elevated monorail down Portage. The downtown tunnels and skywalks could be so much better utilized. Instead we fix potholes in sprawling suburbs and hire more police.
QUESTION: We often talk a lot about cities that are doing great things that inspire us, and I usually don’t spend much time bashing all the OTHER cities even when they deserve it. But there are special cities that SHOULD BE SO MUCH BETTER than they are.
Ottawa’s an example for me.

Winnipeg. We used to have a world class electric tram system. There were serious plans for an elevated monorail down Portage. The downtown tunnels and skywalks could be so much better utilized. Instead we fix potholes in sprawling suburbs and hire more police.
